Walking down the street in sandals is not a fashion choice in many parts of the world. Some people can only afford sandals because for them shoes are a luxury.

There is a certain responsibility that falls upon those who have more in this world. Such individuals and entrepreneurs are in a favorable position to lend a helping hand to those that need it the most. As Dalai Lama once said, “Our prime purpose in this life is to help others.” We cannot forget those who are voiceless in this society because of their socioeconomic status.

As individuals, we can gain so much from giving back to our own community. You don’t have to travel to Africa to start changing the world. There’s always a person that needs our help in our community. We just have to become more aware of our surroundings to see the lack of support that these people encounter on a daily basis. Remember that what makes us truly human is our ability to feel compassion for one another.

As entrepreneurs, we benefit from giving to the community by growing as a business that cares about its people. A business that gives without receiving anything in return grows immensely not in profits but in humane terms. By providing to the community where one conducts its business, one gets to connect with individuals who probably wouldn’t have crossed our path in this life. That is essential to the human experience; the closeness that one feels towards others is what makes us different than other species in this world. We are here to help each other reach our full potential.

It is instrumental that one follows this type of advice in order for society to move forward. We all have struggled at some point in life and there has always been a person who was there to lend us a helping hand. Let us not forget that we are part of a community. A community thrives effectively when all their members can fully achieve their potential as human beings.

Be kind toward one another and always be ready to lend a helping hand. Remember, giving back is the most important way you can contribute to your own community as an individual or an entrepreneur.
